West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar strongly denounced the recent violence in Delhi and criticized those who view it as an avenue for growth and opportunity. In a tweet, he expressed unequivocal condemnation for violence in thought and action, emphasizing that a selective approach to condemning violence is a crime against humanity. Speaking to reporters at an event, Dhankhar reiterated his condemnation of violence, asserting that it is contrary to democratic principles and not part of the cultural ethos. He emphasized the need for a proportional perspective on events for the greater good of the nation, condemning the politicization of violence and the pursuit of opportunities amid such turmoil.
Regarding his meeting with State Election Commissioner Saurabh Kumar Das, the Governor referred to past incidents, including the 2018 state panchayat polls, and stressed the importance of ensuring a level playing field for all candidates and political parties. He expressed concern about the need to avoid instability after elections and highlighted the significance of open communication and fairness in the electoral process.
